Pastor Scott was born and raised in St. Paul, MN, the youngest of three children. He received Jesus as his Savior and heard God’s call to ministry at an early age, and attended Northwestern College in St. Paul to pursue that career. While there, he met Julie from Champlin, MN, the prettiest girl he’d ever seen. The two of them dated throughout college, graduating together in 1989 and getting married three weeks later. They moved into Bethel Seminary housing where Scott completed the next phase of his education, graduating with a Masters of Divinity degree in 1994 (and having two children – Elizabeth and Joshua – along the way).

Before he had completed his final few classes, Scott began a search for a pastoral position which eventually led him to Two Harbors where he and Julie have served since November 1, 1993. A third child, Linnea, was born in 1996. Scott and Julie are very proud of their children and love each one very much. And the whole Nelson family loves their church family at First Baptist.

In his down time, Scott enjoys tennis, basketball, juggling, reading, and watching just about any sports. He serves on a number of boards in the community for organizations that help people. He has also greatly enjoyed attending all the concerts, programs and sporting events his children have been a part of. After more than 20 years with the same church, he loves serving the Lord and His people through ministry more today than ever.
